Carole Roussopoulos was born and grew up Switzerland where she studied literature before moving to Paris. At first a journalist, she experimented filming and editing with the new portable video camera, the Portapak. Part of the 70s political and women’s movements, she filmed non stop historic meetings and exchanges. For more than 30 years, she followed social, homosexuals and feminists struggles, engaging in listening, interviewing and shooting with a rare sense of respect of what others have to say. Co-founder of the Simone de Beauvoir Audiovisual Center, the first audiovisual center devoted to women’s history.
